Created by the architect Ana Bonifácio, the work "Psalterium" integrates the temporary exhibit "Rosarium: Joy and Light, Pain and Glory". The rosaries are literally the symbol of the connection between heaven and earth. The bond that unites all pilgrims during their spiritual journey to Fátima.
The rosaries are suspended yet connected to earth through a thin line between heaven and earth. They symbolise the vast crowds of pilgrims, so different from each other, just like their rosaries.
The visual artist spent two weeks building this installation on site. It was a deeply meticulous work, since every rosary has a meaning, as well as its placement. The work consists of 150 rosaries offered by anonymous pilgrims to Our Lady of Fátima, hung on a web of threads over a platform containing earth of Fátima.
"Psalterium" is the name given to the book that contains 150 psalms of the Old Testament. The inspiration behind this stunning work of Ana Bonifácio.
