Sustained by the European Green Deal, the project "Storytelling recipes" is more than a gastronomic and wine map of the Historical Villages. It is a way of preserving memories, traditions and flavours of the past, respecting the concepts of sustainability and circular economy.
The recipes of the 12 Historical Villages of Portugal were collected thanks to the involvement and active collaboration of the communities. Locals were interviewed, sharing their recipes, knowledge of endogenous products and ancestral techniques. The next stage was experimenting those collected recipes, a project carried out by the school Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo de Coimbra; and harmonising them with the outstanding wines of Beira Interior wine region with the collaboration of Beira Interior Regional Wine Commission.
The gastronomic & wine mapping of the Historical Villages was conceived and there are nowadays 13 restaurants where to taste the recipes of the gastronomic & wine map of the Historical Villages:
From farm to fork. Honouring the past and celebrating the future.
