Beautifully placed in the charming wine-producing village of Santar, the 5-star boutique hotel Valverde Santar Hotel & Spa, member of Relais & Châteaux Collection, is a precious jewel at the heart of the renowned Dão wine region, surrounded by Estrela and Caramulo Mountains, near Viseu.

Noble 17th century Casa das Fidalgas was the former residence of the Portuguese Royal family, placed in an area of 4 ha of vineyards and 3 ha of lavish gardens. The project has the signature of the architects Diogo Rosa Lã and José Pedro Vieira and Bastir interior design. The outdoor area was designed by landscape architect Fernando Caruncho.

Valverde Santar Hotel & Spa has 21 rooms, namely: 3 classic rooms, 10 deluxe rooms, 5 junior suites and 3 suites. Each room has quite unique details. D. Isabel suite is situated in the former wine pressing room of Casa das Fidalgas, next to the spa. Duque de Bragança suite is situated on the second floor of the hotel and Duque de Viseu suite is housed in the D. Miguel building, next to the gardens.

The former wine cellar of the manor house is now a 700 sq meter welcoming spa with 4 treatment rooms, sauna, heated indoor pool, Turkish bath, sensorial shower, ice fountain and a relaxing zone bathed by sunlight.

The restaurant Memórias, led by the gifted Chef Luís Almeida, is inspired by the uniqueness of regional products and the exquisiteness of flavours. The gardens of the hotel are absolutely fascinating, as well as a truly inviting granite outdoor swimming pool.
