Ecovia do Mondego connects the municipalities of Santa Comba Dão and Mortágua in Viseu district, and Penacova and Vila Nova de Poiares in Coimbra district. This route offers travellers an interesting mix of nature, experiences, and gastronomy.
Spanning 40 kilometers, Mondego cycling & walking path is best enjoyed by bike but also accessible for walking. It follows the course of Mondego River, featuring numerous points of interest. Travellers moving from Coimbra to Viseu can explore a scenic 13-kilometer stretch with waterfalls, as well as Louredo Natura Park, a riverside adventure center for water sports. In Penacova, there’s the Reconquinho River Beach, the impressive natural monument Livraria do Mondego and several trails along the river. Halfway along, the Aguieira Dam marina provides opportunities for kayaking, rowing, or swimming.
