Adega 23
September is for fresh starts, for the adventure and the inevitable magic of new beginnings. It's harvest time. The perfect time to produce outstanding wines and to believe in the power of renewal. In the power of creation. Mother Nature always knows best. The territory of Center of Portugal embraces 5 fascinating wine regions: Dão, Bairrada, Beira Interior, Tejo and Lisbon wine region. This week's edition shows you this unique diversity, as well as sophisticated wine cellars. It's time to harvest excellence and to plant the seeds of the future.
Pinking
Since the year 2000, wine experts in Portugal were intrigued by a white vine variety, Síria - which is in fact one the most important white vine varieties in Beira Interior wine region - that generated salmon-coloured wines, specifically in the sub-region of Castelo Rodrigo. What at first looked like a mystery was later explained by wine-maker Jenny Silva. Pinking is the name of this fascinating wine category. Unique in the world.
Julia Kemper
Born in a family with a long wine-producing tradition, at the heart of the noble Dão wine region, Julia Kemper, a Lisbon-based lawyer, decided to change her life completely and to continue the family tradition in their property Quinta do Cruzeiro. From lawyer to farmer, Julia started creating natural organic wines that respect the pace of nature.
Luís Pato
Known in the wine scene as the "rebel producer" of Bairrada wine region, Luís Pato is an outstanding winemaker of Portugal, who started to produce wines in 1980. His father, João Pato, was the first bottler of Bairrada, after the classification as Demarcated Wine Region. From his father Luís inherited the non-conformism and the desire to make something new. While breaking conventions.

This dazzling design winery evokes the structural drawing of a wine barrel, perfectly placed in the surrounding natural landscape. Wine passion and modern architecture hand-in-hand.
AdegaMãe
Adega Mãe was the result of an old passion of codfish selling company Riberalves: wine. Located in Torres Vedras, very close to Lisbon, Adegamãe is the place where this dream has come into life. A celebration of the deeply rooted wine-making tradition.
