19.12.2022 • 01.01.2023
This is the time to feel cosy and comfortable. There are unique spots at Center of Portugal where you can have that hygge feeling. Time to unplug. And to define a new mindset.
Hygge
This is the season to feel the magic around us, to be closer to the ones we love and to what really matters. But this is also the time to press the pause button and to see things from a different light. To put things in review, designing the future. Time to feel cosy and comfortable. There are unique spots at Center of Portugal where you can have that hygge feeling. Time to unplug. And to define a new mindset.
Casa de São Lourenço
Casa de São Lourenço is the only five-star hotel in the Serra da Estrela region and the only one with a panoramic view over the Glacier Valley. Conceived in 1940 by the architect Rogério de Azevedo, reborn now with a new life turned into the beauty of the landscape.
Casas da Lapa, Nature & SPA Hotel
On the northwest slope of Serra da Estrela, inside the Natural Park area, Casas da Lapa seduce by the brutal contrast between the wild grandiosity of the landscape and its cosy, warm and sophisticated atmosphere.
White as snow
Snow in many Nordic languages has dozens of synonyms, but that's not the case in Portuguese. "Neve"means snow. That's it. However, snow is part of the everyday life in Winter time at Serra da Estrela, the highest peak of the Portuguese mainland. The place where the winter magic happens. Our Winter wonderland.
Velvet
Sweet, Happy & Tasty ! This is the motto of the new delicious spot of the charming city of Viseu: Velvet Cupcake & Coffee !
Christmas bonfires
Especially in the inland of Center of Portugal, there is the enduring tradition of piling up wood in front of cathedrals and churches and to lit the “madeiros”, the bonfires or Yule-Logs. A way of bringing communities closer, as well as a symbol of the spirit of solidarity and brotherhood so typical of this holiday season.
Luís Pato
Known in the wine scene as the "rebel producer" of Bairrada wine region, Luís Pato is an outstanding winemaker of Portugal, who started to produce wines in 1980. His father, João Pato, was the first bottler of Bairrada, after the classification as Demarcated Wine Region. From his father Luís inherited the non-conformism and the desire to make something new. While breaking conventions.
